I overcame a lot of challenges this week and found some inner strength I really didn't know I had. I have never been one to say "no" to food or avoid tempting foods. This week was a challenge in many ways, but I overcame them. In the end, I am very proud of myself. Going back to work this week presented many eating challenges for me. I mentioned in my previous post about the Chick-fil-a, chocolate and cake....that was Monday. On Tuesday, all my co-workers brought snack foods to put in the workroom. I walked in at one point and saw all the brownies, tostitos, cheese dip, homemade pimento cheese, chips, cookies, cake, CHEESECAKE!!, and so much more. Luckily that morning, I made sure I packed a turkey sandwich (5 points), carrots and veggie dip (4 points with dip), wheat thins (3 pts for 16 crackers) and some fruit. Throughout the day, I went in the workroom once or twice and only grabbed a few mini pigs in the blankets (I counted them 2 points a piece). At the end of the day, I felt like I had jumped a huge hurdle. On Wednesday, most of my friends decided to go out to lunch. I usually like to do this for the food and the company. Lucky for me, my wonderful friend Erin also brought her lunch so we sat in my room and ate the food we planned on from the get-go. So, was it easy for me to avoid all of those foods this week...absolutely not! But...I did feel like I made a huge accomplishment by simply not eating foods I typically would have eaten way too much of.
I am not really going to count this week's weight-loss because I realized my scale is completely messed up! The first time I got on the scale, it said I had lost .2. I was so mad!!! I thought, "I have worked sooo hard this week and I only lost .2?!" So, I went to my mom's scale and her's said I lost 2.6...that was much better! I went back to my scale and it then said I had gained .2. I got on it again 30 secs later and it said I had lost 1.8. Obviously my scale is messed up! I am going with what my mom's said, because it said it consistently 3 times, but I don't know that I can really count it because I don't know if my initial weigh-in was correct. So, I am purchasing a new scale before next Friday!!!
So, if you are reading this for some advice: this is my advice for the week:
-Always pack your own food if you know there will be tempting/unhealthy food around
-If you can, avoid going into an area where there is tempting foods, or at least avoid staying in there longer than necessary
-If you plan on going out to eat or know you are going to have to eat less healthy options, go ahead and account for those foods for the day. For example, tonight (Saturday), Alex's family and me are going to Shealy's BBQ. If you know about Shealy's you know this is not a WW friendly place! I have 1.) planned to use most of my 49 weekly points this evening and 2.) already put the foods and their points values in my diary for the day. I will be more likely to eat only the foods I have accounted for because I simply do not want to go into my diary and change everything!
This upcoming week is already presenting some challenges, but I am going ahead and planning for them. First of all, I am going back to work so I know at the end of the day I am not going to want to cook. I am trying to think of some healthier options that will be quick and easy. Our church is having a church-wide family event tomorrow in which they will serve hamburgers and hot dogs and all the fixin's. I am planning on stopping at Subway so that I can not sabotage myself, certainly after eating Shealy's tonight! We are going out to eat tomorrow night, but I am going to get the french onion soup and a salad instead of the fish and chips or something else. Next weekend, we are going to Atlanta and I know there will be a lot of temptations there. I will use next weeks weekly points next weekend.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope that I have not bored you :)
I'm so proud of you Kimmy! Keep up the awesome work! :)
